Investor's Business Daily - Chip sales worldwide fell 2% from Q1 to Q2, totaling $24.5 bil, down 1% from a year ago, the Semiconductor Industry Association said. The trade group said sales were hurt by a sluggish global economy and the effects of the March quake in Japan. Jefferies said the decline is significantly below the 5-year historical average of 9% Q2 sales growth. PC chipmaker Intel (NASDAQ:INTC - News) slipped 0.4% to 22.24, and cell phone chipmaker Texas Instruments edged up 0.5% to 29.89.
